A Different Perspective

Experiences that reveal the valley from a different perspective.

Not every journey begins with a walk. Sometimes all it takes is changing your point of view.

Looking at the valley from above, watching it unfold from a train window or allowing yourself a few hours of rest can reveal aspects of the Engadin that might otherwise go unnoticed.

These are three experiences that invite you to discover the valley differently.

Muottas Muragl

Where the valley begins to make sense.

Some places impress you with their beauty. Others help you understand a landscape. For me, Muottas Muragl belongs to the second kind.

From up here, the Engadin opens out in all its breadth. The lakes seem to follow a single path, the villages finally find their place and the mountains reveal the shape of the valley. Suddenly, everything you've seen over the past few days begins to connect.

It is one of the first places I recommend to anyone visiting the Engadin for the first time. Not only because the view is extraordinary, but because it helps you understand the valley and see it from a different perspective.

If you can, don't stop at the panoramic terrace. Walk a little further along the trail and give yourself some time. Once your eyes stop searching for the most spectacular viewpoint, they begin to read the landscape as a whole.

Bernina Red Train

When the landscape leads the journey.

Some days, the most beautiful thing you can do is simply board a train, sit by the window and let the landscape do the rest.

The Bernina Red Train travels through some of the most spectacular scenery in the Alps. Forests, lakes, glaciers and high mountain passes unfold one after another as the train climbs to the Bernina Pass before descending into the Poschiavo Valley.

You don't need to travel the entire route. Even a short section is enough to experience the journey and discover the mountains from a different perspective.

If you can, choose a window seat and resist the temptation to photograph everything. For a few minutes, simply look outside.

The mountains, lakes and glaciers will continue to pass before your eyes, reminding you that we don't always have to go in search of the landscape.

Sometimes, the landscape comes to meet us.

Ovaverva

When well-being becomes part of the journey.

Some days, the best way to experience the mountains is simply to slow down in a different way. After a hike, on a rainy morning or whenever you feel like taking care of yourself, Ovaverva is the perfect place to recharge.

Its pools, whirlpools, saunas and wellness areas offer another way of experiencing the mountains – not through movement, but through your body.

It's a place enjoyed by both visitors and local residents. Some come after a day on the ski slopes, others after a long walk, and some simply to treat themselves to a few relaxing hours.

Sometimes the best memory of a day isn't what you did, but how you felt when it was over.
